What to Expect
Honest Expectations, Healthy Paint
Paint correction works by removing a very small amount of clear coat to level out swirls, haze and scratches. Factory clear coat is thin, often thinner than a sheet of paper, so there is only so much to work with. I take only what the paint can safely give.
That means not every scratch or swirl will come out. Deeper scratches, especially ones that have gone through the clear coat, can often be made far less noticeable, but removing them completely would mean taking too much clear coat. Every vehicle has different paint, so I look at the condition during your inspection and tell you what to expect before I start.
Usually corrects well
Wash swirls, haze, oxidation and light scratches.
May only improve
Deeper scratches, scratches through the clear coat, and paint that is already thin.
My goal is the best finish your paint can safely give, while leaving plenty of clear coat to protect it for years to come.
Paint Correction San Martin: What Is It?
Paint correction is machine polishing your clear coat to remove the defects that dull your finish. Leveling out those tiny imperfections brings back depth, clarity and gloss.
It is not a wax or a filler. It is real surface refinement, done in stages, so the improvement lasts instead of washing out.
What it can improve
- Swirl marks and fine scratches in the clear coat
- Haze, dullness, and oxidation
- Uneven, lifeless gloss on older paint

My Correction Process
No rushed prep and no shortcuts. Every correction follows the same steps.
01
Inspect
I look at the paint and we talk about your goals, so the correction matches what your paint needs.
02
Decontaminate
A multi-stage wash, iron decontamination, and clay bar treatment remove bonded contaminants before polishing starts.
03
Polish
Multi-stage machine polishing removes swirls and haze, then refines the finish to a deep, clean gloss.
Correct First, Then Protect
Paint protection film and ceramic coatings lock in whatever is underneath them. Correcting the paint first means you seal in a flawless finish instead of swirls and haze. That is why many customers book correction together with paint protection film or a ceramic coating.

Clearer Glass
Glass Polishing
Water spots, mineral deposits, haze, and wiper marks can leave windshields and windows cloudy and harder to see through. I machine polish glass to restore clarity and a smoother surface.
- Hard water spots and mineral deposits
- Wiper marks and light haze
- Windshields and side windows
Deep scratches cannot always be removed, so I inspect the glass first and tell you what is realistic. See my glass polishing page.

Paint Correction Questions
Can paint correction remove every scratch?
It removes defects that sit in the clear coat, such as swirls and light scratches. A scratch that goes through the clear coat cannot be fully polished out. I check your paint during inspection and tell you what is realistic.
Is paint correction the same as a polish or wax?
No. Waxes and glazes can temporarily hide flaws. Paint correction removes them through multi-stage machine polishing, so the results hold up after washing.
Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating or PPF?
If your paint has swirls, haze, or oxidation, I recommend it, because the coating or film will lock in the finish underneath. I can bundle correction with either service. Paint protection film can also help hide minor imperfections that correction or a ceramic coating alone will not.
Is paint correction safe for my paint?
Yes, when it is done carefully. I remove only a small amount of clear coat and stop well before there isn’t enough left to protect the paint for years to come. If your paint is too thin or too damaged for correction to help, I’ll tell you before I start.
Do you polish glass too?
Yes. I polish windshields and windows to remove water spots, haze, and wiper marks. See the glass polishing section above.
Which areas do you serve?
I work with drivers in Gilroy, Morgan Hill, San Martin, San Jose, Salinas, Hollister, and Watsonville, plus the surrounding South Bay.
Why Prep Matters
Same Swirls. Very Different Story.
These are the same swirl marks under the same light. On white and light colors they tend to disappear. On black and other dark paint, every one of them shows. That is why dark vehicles need more careful correction, and why I keep going until the paint is clean, even when most people would never notice.
Illustration only. Both panels show the same swirl pattern under the same light.

Black paint is the hardest color to hide flaws on, so it is the best test of the work. Here is the same driver door on a black Jeep Wrangler Rubicon before and after correction, under shop lights that show every defect.
