Ceramic Coating San Martin: What Is It?
A ceramic coating is a liquid protective layer that bonds to your vehicle’s surface and cures into a hard, glossy shell. It makes water bead and roll off, helps dirt release more easily, and helps protect against UV fade. It does not make paint etch-proof, but bird droppings and water spots wipe off more easily, so you can clean them off before they cause damage.

Prep Comes First
A coating locks in whatever is underneath it. If swirls and haze are on the paint, they stay there. That is why I start with a multi-stage wash, iron decontamination, and clay bar treatment, and why I recommend paint correction before coating when the paint needs it. Not every scratch or swirl can be removed, since correction only takes a small amount of clear coat, so I’ll tell you what to expect at your inspection. For paint with leftover minor imperfections, paint protection film can help hide what correction or a ceramic coating alone will not.
Then I apply the coating panel by panel and let it cure so it performs the way it should. I walk you through wash and maintenance steps when you pick up your vehicle.
Ceramic Coating Questions
How long does a ceramic coating last?
The coatings I use are long-lasting. Exact life depends on the coating, the prep, and how the vehicle is cared for. I’ll recommend options during your consultation.
Does ceramic coating replace paint protection film?
No. Ceramic coating adds gloss, water-beading, and chemical and UV resistance, while PPF is the physical barrier against rock chips. Many owners use both, with the coating added to the film after about a year (see below).
Can I add a ceramic coating over PPF?
Not right away. MiracleCoat advises against coating new film, because the film’s topcoat will not hold a ceramic coating at first. After about a year, when the topcoat starts to wear, a coating can be added to bring the film back to life. Ask me when yours is ready.
Can I coat a car that has swirls or scratches?
You can, but the coating will seal in those flaws. I recommend correcting the paint first so the finish you lock in is the one you want.
Do I still need to wash a coated car?
Yes. A coating makes washing easier, but it does not make a vehicle maintenance-free. I explain the right wash steps when you pick up your vehicle.
